Nuanced readings of social and economic phenomena

I noticed this when I was doing some more research on Terre des hommes, Unicef and Nepal adoptions….

I do not know the foundation mentioned in the article, and cannot vouch for the content….This kind of commentary, however, is a reminder that the world of social orphanhood is extremely complex, and much of the rhetoric of groups like Terre des hommes is aspirational….Repressing international adoption will not bring all, most or maybe even many of these children back into their families of origin. I want to see much, much more work done to study how the children left the family, and what their current life prospects are. That is where the effort should be aimed!
